Cheryl has over 20 years experience in the financial services sector in Australia. She has worked for some of the largest general insurance companies, Suncorp and IAG, leading customer facing, operational, technical and strategic planning teams. Her strengths have been in developing high performing individuals and teams; developing and implementing strategy and customer experience programs; driving complex systems and cultural change programs; complex relationship management and stakeholder engagement; and media representation.
Cheryl is a highly experienced business leader with a background in leading large operational teams (3,000+ FTE across national geographies). She has a strong track record of delivery as a divisional Executive General Manager at IAG where she led the national claims function, including management of some of Australia’s worst natural disasters in recent history. Her varied roles have seen her lead strategy functions within both Suncorp and IAG, where she was responsible for the development and implementation of group wide strategic planning with C-Suite and Board level leaders.
Cheryl has delivered through a focus on her people, supporting individuals through coaching and mentoring. She brings a unique sense of empathy, engagement and understanding to her support for people’s development, balancing a whole of person focus in her connection with them.
She has led a number of cultural transformation and operational performance improvement programs that focused on understanding the needs of multiple stakeholders, with a particular emphasis on building positive engagement of teams to ensure delivery of outstanding customer experiences.
She was an inaugural winner of the Australian Financial Review Boss Magazine Young Executive of the Year award, and a recipient of a Chief Executive Women (CEW) scholarship to INSEAD. She was also a Director of the IAG Foundation.
Cheryl brings her understanding of large and complex organisations and leadership experience to her professional coaching practice. This combined with her diverse educational background, including specialisation in coaching psychology, enables her to combine her experience and knowledge in supporting her clients in their own unique development journey. She takes an evidence based approach in centering her engagement with each individual with whom she works.
